The Cubs are wrapping up an early-season series with a makeup against the Braves tonight. And here’s how they’ll line up for that one.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Daniel Murphy, 2B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, RF
- Jason Heyward, CF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Mike Montgomery, P
- David Bote, 3B
David Bote should enjoy tonight’s start at third, because with Kris Bryant apparently making his way back, it could be his last one there for a while (eh … maybe he’ll get one more shot tomorrow night, that remains to be seen).
Elsewhere, the Cubs new double-play combo of Javy Baez and Daniel Murphy return after both got the day off yesterday and they’re followed by Anthony Rizzo at first and Ben Zobrist, who’s still raking, at second. Jason Heyward is out in center tonight, continuing a developing trend of more bench time for Albert Almora and Ian Happ, and Kyle Schwarber is out there in left.
Tonight’s Braves starter hasn’t had particularly strong lefty/righty splits this season, but that’s not true for his career. Thus, lefties should have the advantage tonight and he’ll face five of them through his first seven batters faced. Let’s hope that’s enough.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (6:35 CT).
