Tonight, the Chicago Cubs are making up yet another early-season game on an off-day, this time heading to Atlanta to take on the Braves.
The Braves, like the Cubs, are in first place of their division, carrying a 3.5 lead over the Phillies, who, incidentally, happen to be the Cubs next opponents. They’ll [the Braves] send Mike Foltynewicz to the mound tonight, in hopes of increasing that lead while the Phillies are off.
The Cubs, meanwhile, are welcoming back Mike Montgomery from the disabled list, as he’ll throw his first competitive inning since August 11th (no rehab assignment for him) a little after 6:30 CT tonight. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few cobwebs, but I think he also has a chance to simply be well rested and stronger than usual.
