It took them about a month longer than it should have, in my humble view, but the Brewers have finally landed a starting pitcher to supplement their rotation.
#Brewers get Gio Gonzalez, sources tell The Athletic.

Brewers get their starter, Gio Gonzalez. Trade done.

The return isn’t yet out there, but it’ll depend on how much of the remaining $2 million the Brewers are taking on. The 32-year-old lefty had been consistently very good – sometimes great – over the preceding eight seasons, but has posted a mere 4.57 ERA this year with almost all of his peripherals taking serious hits, too. He was especially brutal in August.
That said, he’s healthy, and he’s still had several very good starts throughout this season. Who knows? Maybe he’ll be one of those guys who gets a bump by virtue of getting out of his current digs, getting into a race, and getting some assistance from new sets of eyes.
