The Cubs have not lost a series in over a month. For that streak to continue, they’ll have to beat Aaron Nola today – not an easy task.
Here’s the group that’ll try:
- Daniel Murphy, 2B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Kris Bryant, RF
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Ian Happ, CF
- Jon Lester, P
- David Bote, 3B
As we were tentatively expecting, Kris Bryant is already heading out to the outfield to help accommodate the overflow of talented infielders (and that’s without even account for Addison Russell’s return). David Bote gets another start at third base.
Aaron Nola is more or less split-neutral, which is to say he pretty much dominates batters of all handedness. Good luck to the Cubs today, and good luck to Jon Lester keeping the Phillies down long enough for the bats to do some damage on Nola.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to today’s game time (12:35 CT).
