When Anthony Rizzo was double-switched out of last night’s game when it was still competitive, you knew something was up. That doesn’t just happen to Rizzo.
Sure enough, he’d fouled one off his foot earlier in the game, and it must have been bothering him enough later on that the Cubs wanted to get some X-rays:

Those X-rays were negative, fortunately, so the official diagnosis was a bruise. Rizzo came into Joe Maddon’s office after the game and declared himself good to go for tonight’s game, though, so he must have been feeling better.
We’ll see what’s what when the lineups come out, as guys sometimes feel a little different after a night of sleep, but Rizzo is obviously a tough dude. Tonight’s starter for the Brewers, Jhoulys Chacin, is also brutal on righties and very susceptible to lefties, so you’d sure like to see Rizzo in there if possible.
Oh, and also, Rizzo’s been one of the hottest hitters on the planet lately, so that’s another reason you want him out there.
