Coming into the 4th inning tonight, the Cubs had faced Brewers starter Jhoulys Chacin for 16 innings and they had scored in none of them. It … hurt.
That’s when Daniel Murphy FINALLY did a thing and the Cubs had a run against Chacin:

What a great piece of hitting that was. Even in a 2-0 count, Murphy was not sitting dead red fastball. Instead, he anticipated a get-me-over outside breaking pitch, sat back on it, and drove it the other way. Pretty stuff.
For Murphy, who’d also singled to lead off the game, it’s already been a big night shortly after I noted that his numbers had dipped a bit in recent days. It can all come right back up in a single night I said. And it already has. Small sample sizes are fun!
