Chicago Cubs Lineup: Kris Bryant Scoots Off to Left Field

Chicago Cubs

The Brewers may be out of the way for now, but the Cubs have a very tough challenge ahead of them with Stephen Strasburg on the mound tonight.

Here’s how they’ll go after him

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Daniel Murphy, 2B
  2. Javy Baez, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Ben Zobrist, RF
  5. Kris Bryant, LF
  6. Albert Almora, CF
  7. Willson Contreras, C
  8. Kyle Hendricks, P
  9. Addison Russell, SS

Despite Strasburg’s right-handedness, Kyle Schwarber is out of the Cubs lineup tonight, thanks (in all likelihood) to that sore/tight back. We expected him to miss tonight’s game, but here’s to hoping he feels good to come back soon.

In his place in left, Joe Maddon has inserted Kris Bryant. Bryant, then, is back-filled by Javier Baez at third, who’s back-filled by Addison Russell at short. Daniel Murphy remains at second (and leadoff) and Anthony Rizzo rounds out the infield.

Willson Contreras is behind the plate again tonight, and is looking to get out of a funk, and Ben Zobrist fills in for Jason Heyward in right field. There aren’t many surprises in the lineup tonight, but it’s worth noting that Strasburg has been extremely split neutral for his career.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (6:05 CT).
