The Cubs have two really big pitching matchups this week – Cole Hamels and Max Scherzer is the main course on Saturday, but Kyle Hendricks versus Stephen Strasburg is the appetizing starter and we get that one tonight.
Hendricks has been particularly locked in lately, lasting at least 6.0 innings in each of his past five starts, including six of his past seven. He’s also allowed just two or fewer earned runs in each of his last three starts, and hasn’t allowed more than two walks in a start since JUNE(!). Hopefully, he keeps that up tonight.
Strasburg (neck), meanwhile, had been on the DL, but has since posted back-to-back 6.0 IP, 2ER starts of his own. A guy like him is always able to dominate any lineup, and I wouldn’t expect anything less tonight.
