Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Nationals (7:45 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

For as much of an apparent pitching advantage as the Nationals had in game one (Max Scherzer versus Jaime Garcia), the Cubs have something similar for game two.

Cole Hamels, still hot since his trade from the Rangers, is coming off a 6.0 IP start against the Brewers, wherein he allowed just 2 earned runs on 5 hits, 2 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Since joining the Cubs, he’s got a 1.00 ERA with an equally impressive 2.24 FIP. He’s also struck out 43 batters in 45 innings and has walked only 12.

Jefry Rodriguez, meanwhile, has made just 9 appearances (7 starts) in the big leagues, and has been mostly rocked in those games (5.58 ERA). His last time out, against the Brewers, was particularly rough, as he allowed 7 hits, 7 walks, and 7 earned runs in 4.2 IP. With that said, I’d be remiss not to point out that the Cubs have struggled with guys like this all season long. I have no idea why, I just hope it doesn’t continue tonight.

As for the lineup, Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, and Kyle Schwarber are all in there tonight, and beyond that everything confuses the heck out of me.
