Thanks to the rains this weekend in Washington and a ridiculous rescheduling decision, the Cubs are currently slated to wrap up this series against the Brewers on Wednesday night, and then fly to DC for a single game against the Nationals, and then fly back to Chicago that night for a day game against the Reds.
It is a hellish week in its own right, and the fact that it comes after 23 straight days of scheduled games makes it all the more miserable. With a hurricane set to make for another soggy week in Washington, though, there’s a chance that the game will not be played or will be moved. But when will a decision be made on that front? Are the Cubs even being heard by MLB on this farce?
Well, Theo Epstein spoke to that today:
Theo on how Thursday's rainout makeup in DC plays out with Hurricane bearing down: "I'm sure common sense will prevail."
Says team working on what it can control (i.e., possible game time change Friday, etc.)— Gordon Wittenmyer (@GDubCub) September 10, 2018
As for Thursday, Theo couldn't say anything specific, but expects "common sense will prevail" with the weather that is supposed to hit the east coast later this week.
Cubs have made sure their voices are heard but ultimately this will be MLB's call.

So, then, it sounds like options are being discussed behind the scenes in the even that weather projects to be as terrible on Thursday as it currently projects. Perhaps this game will be punted to the end of the season after all, as it should have been originally.
At a minimum, you’d love to see the city of Chicago allow the Cubs to push back Friday’s game to a rare Friday night game to give the Cubs a little rest.
It is possible the Cubs and Nationals could have their game relocated to another venue. Famously, the Cubs and Astros played at Miller Park because of Hurricane Ike, and Carlos Zambrano threw a no-hitter. Hey, the Brewers are off this Thursday if Cole Hamels wants to throw a no-hitter …
