It just seems to be a thing: Jose Quintana + Brewers + September = a great night for Cubs fans.
Quintana was really on point tonight, only briefly losing his control for a one-inning blip, but otherwise cutting through a formidable Brewers lineup. Dude has been pretty darn good lately, eh?
Also great tonight: the bullpen. Well done, gents. We all needed to see that.
Offensively, it wasn’t a great night for the Cubs once again, though they took advantage of a Brewers gaffe; and I don’t just mean Jhoulys Chacin’s throw into center field – I mean the decision to pitch to Victor Caratini with first base open and Jose Quintana on deck. Caratini battled Chacin until that throw into center, which plated the Cubs’ first run, and then Caratini drove in another one with a single.
Caratini *also* drove in the Cubs’ third run with a double to left, giving himself one heck of a night.
