You could say it’s because Cubs fans will bet up their favorites regardless of an appropriate evaluation of the intrinsic likelihood of an event, but I tend to believe this shift is simply because the dude has been killing it, and everyone is noticing.
The latest odds from @BovadaOfficial have a new NL MVP frontrunner … by a lot. You will recognize him. It ain't Yelich. pic.twitter.com/k5Hgr5ohgX

To be honest, Christian Yelich actually looks like the smart bet in that group, given that he feels like more of a one in four chance right now, rather than one in six.
In any case, it’s Javy Baez who is the frontrunner in the minds of those in Vegas. And why not? He has become a HIGHLY visible superstar this year, performing as the best player on the best team in the NL, making highlight reel plays every night, and crushing bombs with such ferocity that bathrooms explode from the thunderous crack of his contact.
It’s going to be fun(?) to debate who should actually win the award in coming weeks. Until then, it’s still crazy that Baez is right there in the conversation, let alone leading the pack in the minds of many. The guy really is El Mago.
