This afternoon, word broke on Twitter that there was an actual fire near the press box at Wrigley Field, but thankfully, we’ve since learned that it was managed, and put out, by the Chicago Fire Department.
Concession stand fire inside Wrigley put out by the fine men and women of CFD . The location was in the upper deck to the right field side of the press box . No press box damage . More details as Cubs assess damage and pass on info.

Fyi Fire at Wrigley press box is under control. I'm told it was minor and in the kitchen. All is well. #Cubs

It seems the fire started in a concession stand in the upper deck to the right field side of the press box, but the press box sustained no damage. I’m glad to hear it’s been handled, and I think we can all send out a big thanks to the CFD …
… but I gotta say: this is what happens when you don’t play baseball every single day. The lazy Cubs took the day off and Wrigley Field couldn’t handle it.
