So, Kyle Schwarber’s monster homer yesterday was a beautiful thing on its own merits. It was his 26th homer of the year, it continued a nice few games since he returned to the lineup, it was his first homer this year off of a lefty, and it was 444 feet of actualized power.
But it turns out that was far, far from the best thing about Schwarber’s homer. Instead, the best thing happened if you were watching the White Sox broadcast.
Outgoing announcer Hawk Harrelson was in his final game in the booth, and was in the middle of receiving a “Hawk Harrelson Day” honorary from a Chicago city alderman when Schwarber interrupted. It was AMAZING:
