Like we’ve said from the beginning, a regular season return from a moderate hamstring strain for Pedro Strop in just a couple weeks was always impossible to realistically imagine. Sure enough, it’s not going to happen.
But Strop, ever the optimist, is not only planning to be ready for the Cubs’ postseason, he has a very specific plan in mind:
Strop said he will not pitch today/tomorrow, but believes he'll be ready for playoffs. Will jog & play catch today & then see how it feels. Was in great spirits-when asked about pitching Tues said "Thursday, don't tell me about Tuesday, that's Plan B, we're looking for Plan A."

Strop said he won't be back in the regular season. Planning on being ready for playoffs.
Reporter: "So would you be ready Tuesday if needed?"
Strop: "Thursday. Don't talk to me about Tuesday. We're thinking Thursday. We're on the "A" plan still."

There’s no Wild Card Game in consideration for Strop. He’s thinking solely about the NLDS, which kicks off on Thursday. Good man.
If the Cubs can win out this weekend against the Cardinals, they’re guaranteed to begin their postseason on Thursday in the NLDS. There are, of course, other possibilities – the Cubs may wind up having to play in the Wild Card Game on Tuesday, and/or in a tiebreaker game against the Brewers on Monday. Whether Strop would be ready for either of those games remains to be seen – I’d call it unlikely – but he doesn’t want to think about that crap anyway.
So neither will we. See you on Thursday, Pedro.
