Pre-Gamin’: Brewers at Cubs (12:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

I started writing for Bleacher Nation part-time back in 2015 and full-time back in 2016, which means I’ve written pre-gamin’ posts for TONS of Cubs’ playoff games over the years. And yet the stress and anxiety I’m feeling over today’s game, in particular, rivals almost anything that didn’t start with “World” and end with “Series.”

But maybe that’s because there’s actually more on the line here than usual. Beating the Brewers today, means winning the division and finishing the season with the best record in the National League (simultaneously securing home field advantage throughout the NL side of the postseason). And that’s a prize in and of itself. Or, rather, that’s the technically unimportant, but still very cool side-benefit to today’s victor. Of course, there’s more at stake than that. The winner of today’s game will be able to skip the dreaded one-game Wild-Card playoff, which is a much more obvious and tangible goal for both teams. That’s the thing to keep in mind. That’s what the Cubs are playing for today.

My lucky shoes are now 8-1 since being drenched at Sluggers after Cole Hamels’ complete game oh so long ago. Can they make it to 9 wins?
