How’s this for a stray Sunday night rumor to pop into your brain just before the World Series (possibly) ends?!
Bryce Harper free agency rumors: Scott Boras says there's already a done deal in place https://t.co/4wBQ8mIB1F via @CBSSports pic.twitter.com/hHqm1V6NmX

Before you start freaking out and/or dropping your knowledge about how this is kinda impossible unless Harper is re-signing with the Nationals, let me say that I am supremely confident that Boras is just messing around.
After hyping up his man, as you’d expect, Boras told Michael Kay that, “We know who the team is. It’s already completed and done, but Bryce has told me that he wanted to tell you personally.” Listen here:

Based on the lead-in, and the timing, you know this is just Boras goofing around. Has to be. Per the rules, the only team Harper could sign with right now is the Nationals – indeed, he can’t even start talking to other teams until the World Series is over – and actually finalizing a deal with Scott Boras is going to take a very long time of him working the market. Let’s not forget: this is the agent that didn’t actually sign a deal with the Nationals when Harper was a draft pick until there was literally less than one minute left before the deadline.
There’s NO CHANCE a monster free agent deal is actually already done with the Nationals. No chance.
So, in addition to Harper doing plenty of trolling of his own, apparently we gotta watch out for Scott Boras, too. The offseason is almost here.
