The Mariners sell-off continues, with Jean Segura about to be the next to go:
Once Cano-Diaz to #Mets is official, #Mariners have next deal lined up. Team is in serious talks on a trade that would send shortstop Jean Segura to Philadelphia, sources tell The Athletic. Segura holds full no-trade clause, and would need to approve the deal. H/t @agsnetworks.

Was told by a source that this deal was done before the Cano trade, but Segura wasn't going to waive his NTC. Sounds like he will now. https://t.co/HrVb176wzF

Setting aside the momentary bummer of the Cubs not being in on Segura, this trade – if and when it goes through – will have some interesting implications going forward. For example, will Segura play second base for the Phillies so that they can still promise shortstop to Manny Machado? Or are they planning to put Segura at shortstop and try to woo Machado as a third baseman? OR are they solely focused on Bryce Harper at this point as their big positional target?
Will the Mariners keep on tearing down? Are they gonna try to send Dee Gordon to the Cubs for cheap (remember that previous rumored connection)?
In any case, it’s yet another talented player heading to the NL East, which will be a very, very competitive division in 2019.
More on this trade – and the future for the Mariners, Phillies, and the market – when it goes down, likely tomorrow.
