We already knew the Orioles were likely to hire Brandon Hyde as their manager, but quickly after the news broke on Tuesday, the Orioles were being all weird about it (I’m a real wordsmith) and refused to confirm those reports.
No longer:

After Dave Martinez took over in the Nationals dugout, Brandon Hyde becomes the second Joe Maddon lieutenant in as many years to accept a managerial gig with another team. As we said a few days ago, we’re happy for Hyde, even thought it means the Cubs have to deal with MORE coaching staff turnover – as they enter the final year of Joe Maddon’s contract, no less.
Brett discussed some potential replacements in the bullets the other day, but we’ll leave this here for now and continue to monitor this decision. Mark DeRosa, David Ross, and Raul Ibanez were all tossed around, but I can’t say any guy is particularly likely to accept such a role at the moment (for varying reasons). Stay tuned for more.
The Orioles will introduce Hyde in a press conference on Monday at noon live on MASN, 105.7 The Fan, #Orioles Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and on https://t.co/pv7nS1qO4l. #Birdland pic.twitter.com/eaboRFBKSc
