Even before Kris Bryant dropped a “boring” on St. Louis, and Yadi Molina returned a “stupid players and losers” shot, the Cardinals’ aggressive offseason and substantial depth threatened to heat up this year’s edition of the recently-cooled Cubs-Cardinals rivalry. Ever since the Cubs defeated the Cardinals in the only postseason series the two teams have ever had against each other, the team from St. Louis has been something of a middling dance partner in the NL Central.
And, like I said, with improvements and development on the Cardinals roster, and a quiet offseason from the Cubs, the stage was already set for some fire. Hence the Bryant and Molina thing, and hence some more that followed:
“I support Yadi’s comments completely,” Shildt says. “I went to the Stan Musial Award dinner and Stan seemed to find this a good home for him and his family.” Also mentioned Pujols, Holliday, Whitey, Lou…

Mike Shildt elaborated on reasons St. Louis isn’t boring.
He talked about Stan Musial, Ozzie Smith, Albert Pujols, and Matt Holliday coming back here and making it a home.
He went to dinner with Paul Goldschmidt and his wife last night and was far from bored. #STLCards

Do it. Bring it on. While I of course would like to see the Cardinals perform poorly in 2019, an aggressive rivalry between these two clubs can be a whole lot of fun. I hope it keeps going.
