Today was the first full day of Spring Training 2019 for the Chicago Cubs, with everyone having reported and the first full-squad workout conducted.
Oh, take it in……#Cubs first full squad. And Thunderstruck seems pretty appropriate⚡️⚡️ pic.twitter.com/1RMjyj9QRA

Tom Ricketts also met with the media on a range of topics today – more serious fare than you’ll otherwise find here.
Well, one other semi-serious thing: not everyone has quite reported yet, as Joe Maddon told members of the media that Ben Zobrist has not yet reported due to a personal matter. Hopefully everything is OK with the Zobrist family. Presuming it is, then it’s no real concern that Zobrist is missing some time at the start of Spring Training. For veteran position players, in particular, Spring Training is probably a couple weeks too long anyway.
Meanwhile …

How excited was Anthony Rizzo to report to Cubs camp Monday?
"I picked out my outfit last night like it was the first day of school."

Yes, I could use this, please and thanks. It's Rizzo grabbing Grandpa Rossy for a big sweaty hug.

Rizzo says he’ll split his $12 million salary three ways to sign @Bharper3407 and Machado.

Is it just me or does Rizzo look really, really skinny in the Instastories that the Cubs just posted? pic.twitter.com/Bm5eqHWvTz

Note Rick Sutcliffe there in the background, and he saw a pitcher he’s liking:
As on @espn @notthefakeSVP the “Best thing I saw today” was @Cubs RHP James Norwood! Came to camp HOT looking for a job!
