Spring Training Miscellany: Good Deeds Despite the Weather, Scary News in Other Camps, Manny, More

Hey, there’s gonna be a Cubs Spring Training game tomorrow! It’s at 2:05 pm CT at Sloan Park in Mesa, and audio will be available on 670 The Score and at Cubs.com. Jen-Ho Tseng will be starting.

Outside of the weather again taking center stage, the arrival of Ben Zobrist to camp was the primary story of the day:

Zobrist also talked a lot about leadership and how he intends to step up more as a vocal leader in Cubs clubhouse. He won't be an "in-your-face" kinda guy but felt the desire to lead more both from internal drive and at the nudge of Maddon/Theo.

Zobrist: "I believe in this clubhouse." in regards to leadership role: "I do plan on saying something in the right way." Says he's at peace entering the final year of his contract, not looking past 2019 in regards to his future.

Some scary news for the Dodgers and Braves:

Clayton Kershaw is at camp today after he went home early yesterday. Dave Roberts said he wasn't happy with his recent live BP or bullpen. Roberts insisted he's not alarmed, but Kershaw won't throw for now. No timetable.

Soroka’s shoulder is bothering him again. He felt some discomfort while lifting weights a month ago, but he was able to complete bullpens in pain-free fashion until this week. He’ll be restricted from throwing for another 4-5 days.
