Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Rangers (2:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread
In a little under an hour, the Chicago Cubs will head to Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona to take on the Texas Rangers. Cole Hamels will take the mound in his Spring debut and be backed by regulars Ian Happ and Willson Contreras.
More importantly, David Bote is returning to the lineup today, for the first time since being beaned in the head by Madison Bumgarner earlier this Spring. Brett discussed Bote’s recovery earlier this morning and it seems he’s healthy and ready to go.
Like the other starters before him, Hamels will be expected to go no longer than two innings. Hopefully, his velocity looks good right away, but if it’s lower than we’re expecting, just remember that pitchers tend to ramp up over the spring.
Not everyone can be Yu Darvish.
