Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Mariners (7:40 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

Well, ask and you shall receive.

Yesterday, I pointed out the lack of starts at second base for Ian Happ recently, and today … he’s staring at second base! Voila. So today, I’m pointing my lack of a million dollars. By tomorrow, I should be rich!

Indeed, Duncan Robinson is taking the mound for the Cubs today, and he’ll be backed up by an infield including Ian Happ at second, Javy Baez at short, Anthony Rizzo at first, and David Bote at the hot corner. In the outfield, Albert Almora is getting another crack at things, and is sandwiched between a couple of prospect-types, Mark Zagunis and Trent Giambrone.

But the best part of tonight’s game is the presence of the man, himself, Ichiro Suzuki. Ichiro recently said that he wants to play until he’s 50 years old, and while that’s still up in the air, he is on the Mariners roster for the time being. Word is he’ll get to start in the season-opening series against the A’s in Japan, but beyond that, his future is in question. In other words, if you’re in Arizona, tonight’s not a bad night to swing by the stadium.

But other than that … Go Cubs.
