The Chicago Cubs have a late one tonight, with Tyler Chatwood squaring off against Tyler Mahle and the Reds at … *checks notes* 9:05 CT?! That can’t be right.
Sadly, this game will not be televised, which is a bummer because Chatwood is starting again. In case you’ve missed it, Chatwood has tossed 8.0 innings over three games this Spring and has walked ONLY one batter throughout, while striking out five. He has given up eight hits, including a homer, but I have no doubts he can be effective if his command is this good (of course, I have many doubts about that, so …).
The Reds are countering with 24-year-old righty Tyler Mahle, who isn’t likely to be in the rotation right out of the gate this year, but did make 23 starts for the Reds last season. I guess that’s what happens when you add three starters (Sonny Gray, Alex Wood, and Tanner Roark) in one offseason.
Albert Almora is leading off, and a number of Cubs regulars are in this one. Go Cubs.
