Forget the Home Run, Cole Hamels Just Hit a HOLE-IN-ONE
Cole Hamels has had a great couple of days.
As the starting pitcher for the Cubs in his final Spring Training tuneup before the regular season yesterday, Hamels tossed 5.0 innings of one-run ball, with no walks and two strikeouts … and then he launched a homer to deep center field off the 2016 AL Cy Young Award winner (LOL).
But before ALL of that, he went golfing with Jon Lester and Anthony Rizzo and HIT A FREAKIN’ HOLE IN ONE:
If you click on the right arrow in that Instagram album, you’ll see the video of Hamels driving up to the green and finding out that the ball did, indeed, go in. It’s pretty great. A homer and a hole-in-one? That’s one way to start the week.
I guess we’ve gotta call him “Ace” now, right?
