Cubs Pitching is on the Wrong Side of “Historical” Right Now, Justifying Your Hair Clumps
Oh man, these are not the kinds of things you want to see about just how bad the Cubs’ start to the 2019 season has been …
#Cubs pitching this season:
49.1 IP, 46 Runs, 61 Hits, 41 Walks
2.068 WHIP— Christopher Kamka (@ckamka) April 5, 2019
46 runs allowed by #Cubs this season are the most they have allowed in the first 6 games of a season since they allowed 57 in 1901

The last time the Cubs allowed this many runs in the first 6 games of a season, they were called the Chicago Orphans and were still 13 years away from playing a game at Wrigley Field.https://t.co/KI0ICIe8di

Are the Cubs going to have their worst pitching performance in over 100 years over the course of this season? Like, do these bits of info have a great deal of predictive power? Nah. I doubt it. The defense improving will also help!
I think instead what you take away from these kinds of factoids is that you aren’t crazy if you’ve REALLY been tearing your hair out this week. It *has* been that bad. Historically bad. It feels just terrible because it has been just terrible. I just thought you should know.
