Chicago Cubs Lineup: This Group Is Becoming Familiar

Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are kicking off three straight games against right-handed Pirates pitchers this week, so this lineup might be one we see a lot.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Ben Zobrist, RF
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Javy Baez, SS
  5. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  6. Willson Contreras, C
  7. Daniel Descalso, 2B
  8. Jason Heyward, CF
  9. Jon Lester, P

Jameson Taillon, starting for the Pirates today, has had a solid start to his 2019 season, but is still a beatable pitcher. Lefties, in particular, have hit him well enough over the years (.272/.334/.416) and he’ll get six of them (including Jon Lester) in the Cubs lineup today.

Indeed, Daniel Descalso gets another start at second base, as Ben Zobrist covers right field for Jason Heyward, who’s covering center field for Albert Almora Jr.

Without Ian Happ on the team (and with Kyle Schwarber getting more starts against left-handers when they do pop up), this lineup is getting a lot easier to predict, and I suspect we’ll see this group a lot this week, with three righties on the mound.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time.
