The Chicago Cubs haven’t quite gotten the ball rolling on the 2019 season, even if there have been some eye-test improvements along the way. And weirdly, that can also describe Yu Darvish’s season, as well.
What was once an awful start to the season has shown signs of life, but we’re still not quite there yet. Hopefully (I’m so sick of writing hopefully already), Darvish can finally start delivering on that deal he signed last winter and the Cubs can start rallying behind him.
And despite an impressive start consisting of three-straight 6.0 inning appearances, Trevor Richards isn’t a terribly intimidating starter. He’s also been extremely wild this season, with 10 free passes through his first 18.0 IP. If the Cubs can remain patient, they should be able to get to him … or at least kick him out of the game early, while MLB’s fifth worst bullpen (the Marlins) waits to take over.
