The Chicago Cubs are back at Wrigley Field (and all is right in the world) for a weekend set against the Diamondbacks. Here’s their lineup for Game 1.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Daniel Descalso, 2B
- Kris Bryant, RF
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jason Heyward, CF
- David Bote, 3B
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kyle Hendricks, P
Back in Little League, I used to remember right field being reserved for the worst player on the team, but Kris Bryant is playing right field for the Chicago Cubs this afternoon, and he’s a former MVP! Then again, he has been struggling quite a bit this season – I’m just about ready for him to flip a switch.
In any case, with Bryant out in right field, Jason Heyward shifts over to center, which he’s done more often than usual this year, given his hot start and Albert Almora’s slow start (plus, today’s starter is a righty). At Bryant’s vacated third base, David Bote takes over, and at second base, it’s Daniel Descalso.
Descalso has been swinging a hot bat this whole season, and I’m a big fan.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (1:20 CT).
