And that win was about as lopsided as it gets. The Cubs were grinding and powerful at the plate, while the Mariners were absolutely helpless against Jon Lester. In all, that was one of his best starts with the Cubs, and offensively, that was one of the Cubs’ best nights in a while.
Javy Baez had a monster game, with a homer and two doubles, Jason Heyward had three hits, and Willson Contreras reached base three times. It was fun when they were hitting.
