Wake Up and Watch Cubs Pitchers Humble the Mariners’ Mighty Offense

Chicago Cubs

I’m not going to tell you that there hasn’t been some early-season flukiness in their results (and more games than most teams), but nevertheless, the Seattle Mariners came into last night’s game having scored the most runs in baseball by a country mile. Moreover, on a rate basis, they were a top five offensive team in the league overall, depending on your statistical category preference.

And last night, the Cubs’ pitching staff made them look like helpless chumps.

We’ll have more on the individual performances as appropriate later today, but, since the offense got most of the love last night for the blowout win, I thought we should wake up and admire the Cubs’ pitching last night, which held the Mariners to just one hit, one walk, and no runs. And also notched 12 strikeouts, including the very best one last – it is guaranteed to make you chuckle:
