The Series Preview will be out here shortly, but with an early game today, the Cubs lineup has already been announced.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Daniel Descalso, 2B
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Willson Contreras, C
- Ben Zobrist, RF
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Jason Heyward, CF
- Kyle Hendricks, P
With a relatively split-neutral righty in the form of Jack Flaherty out there on the mound this afternoon, this lineup doesn’t present many surprises. Daniel Descalso is in there at second base and leading off, Kyle Schwarber is in left field, and Jason Heyward moves over to center field in place of Albert Almora Jr., opening up right field for a little creativity.
Indeed, David Bote could have very well been out there at third base, pushing Kris Bryant to right, but this group is just as good, methinks. And more starts for Ben Zobrist, who still has plenty of time to right the ship offensively, isn’t a bad thing. Hopefully, he can get things going at home this weekend.
The Cubs technically have a chance to steal first place from the Cardinals this weekend (it would require a sweep), but you gotta win the first one to make it happen. Let’s see if they do. As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
