I mean, normally I drop the RizzOMG when Anthony Rizzo does something great (which, hey, I did for his homer), but let me just say …
HENDOMG. AN 81-PITCH MADDUX HOLY CRAP. FREAKING UNBELIEVABLE OUTING.
Kyle Hendricks had his ELITE command working today, allowing Cardinals hitters to get themselves out again and again as he worked the periphery of the strike zone. The conditions absolutely called for a more aggressive approach, and Hendricks gladly obliged. He averaged just 9 pitches per inning. Seriously. I just can’t even believe that stuff, man.
(A Maddux, for those who don’t know, is a complete game shutout in under 100 pitches, named, of course, after Greg Maddux who made those his specialty. It’s nuts, and Hendricks just did it with 18 pitches to spare!)
