Cole Hamels is starting for the Chicago Cubs tonight with a 7-game winning streak on the line. Fortunately, he just carved through their lineup a couple weeks ago, to the tune of 7.0 scoreless innings with just three hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts.
There’s something to be said about an offense getting the advantage having just faced a pitcher – and, yeah, that’s a real thing – but given how dominant Hamels was in the start, I’m willing to bet no one in the Marlins lineup is itching to get back out there tonight.
Relatedly, the Marlins are starting Sandy Alcantara against the Cubs, who just handled him well a couple weeks ago (7 hits and 5 earned runs over 6.0 IP). With that said, Alcantara did strike out seven out Cubs while walking just one, so he was a tough matchup for them. We’ll see who comes out on top tonight. Go Cubs.
