When you think of Cubs hitters who could blitz one through the stiff wind tonight at a very cold Wrigley Field, my guess is that Albert Almora is not the guy who first comes to mind.
BUT, he was the first guy who did it tonight for the Cubs:

That was 108.2 mph off the bat, and a super low 18 degree launch angle – AKA, just about the only way you’re going to homer to center field tonight. Also, the basket at Wrigley Field helps.
It was funny, Almora thought he walked on the previous pitch, was corrected by the umpire, and then did that. So that’s cool.
Also cool:
Straining to see something good: in his last nine games, coming into tonight (he just homered), Albert Almora is hitting .357/.379/.571 (153 wRC+). Maybe a little something coming around?
