A true story to intro the box score, even as I kinda can’t believe it, and I’ll have to expound in the Bullets in the morning: I just got hit by a car! Like, my physical human body got hit by a car crossing the street! I’m completely fine, so no worries at all – apparently I learned a lot from TV and movies about how to survive that situation – but holy crap! It actually just happened!
OK. But on to baseball, where the Nationals did not so deftly avoid the car that was the Cubs, who went home-run-crazy to the tune of 14 runs, with 6 homers. Half of those blasts came courtesy of Kris Bryant, who, yeah I’m thinkin’, is still feeling pretty good.
Bonus happiness was the outing by Cole Hamels, which was MUCH better than the box score line indicates. I may have been enjoying some beverages as I watched tonight, but I saw at least two innings extended significantly by strikeouts that were not strikeouts, because they were completely missed by the umpire.
Anyway, the Cubs whooped the Nationals, and we’ll have more on that in the morning.
