Chicago Cubs Lineup: Bryant to the Outfield, Bote Comes In

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are facing Tanner Roark for the second time in less than two weeks. Here’s their lineup for the rubber match at Wrigley Field:

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  2. Kris Bryant, RF
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Javy Baez, SS
  5. Willson Contreras, C
  6. Jason Heyward, CF
  7. David Bote, 3B
  8. Daniel Descalso, 2B
  9. Jose Quintana, P

Albert Almora Jr. will get the day off against Tanner Roark today, and in his place out in center field, you’ll find Jason Heyward. In Heyward’s place in right field, you’ll find Kris Bryant. And in Bryant’s place at third base, you’ll find David Bote.

Although Almora does need time off every now and then (especially now that he’s basically an everyday starter), today wouldn’t be my first choice. By way of substitution we’re basically swapping in Bote (1-7, 4Ks against Roark) for Almora (2-5, 2Ks), and that doesn’t necessarily figure to be the right decision given their history. All the same, Bote came through big in the eighth inning yesterday, so let the kid play, right?

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
