The Cubs have lost just two series over the past seven weeks. Both to the Reds. Contract the Reds.
Jose Quintana followed Yu Darvish in giving up 12 hits (some of them extraordinarily cheap, again), and then the bullpen proceeded to make sure the Cubs had no chance to come back in this one. Oh, and the defense didn’t help too much in this one, either.
Not that a comeback seemed likely in the middle innings anyway, as the offense struggled terribly against Tanner Roark (he always seems to pitch well at Wrigley Field), and the game was baked by the time Willson Contreras and Javy Baez hit a couple solo dingers.
The big story from the game is the Kris Bryant injury, and if he comes out OK, then I can toss this game aside and move on pretty quickly.
