When it comes to Cubs player injuries in the Joe Maddon Era, there is one thing you can count on without any doubt whatsoever: unless it’s Javy Baez, the player is always going to miss at least one more day than you expect.
Now, I know that most will cynically point to the Cubs as hiding injury news or being terrible at diagnosing or failing to treat well or whatever. I don’t so much mean that, though. Instead, I just mean that Maddon always seems to want his guys to get one more day than they “need” before returning from an injury (again, Baez being the exception).
So, after colliding in the outfield on Sunday, your rundown looked like this: Jason Heyward stayed in the game, so you’d think he would be in the next game … but one more day means he missed yesterday’s game. And he did. Bryant left the game looking not so good, but the reports after the game were not necessarily terrible. So you’d think he would miss yesterday … which he did … but one more day means he’ll miss today, too.
That’s very much my bet, and it sounds like that’s the tentative expectation:
Heyward says he's ok. Day game, flight, day game, said he (and prob KB) needed a day to make sure nothing serious. Still no final word on Bryant's condition but indications are should be alright as well.

Reiterating/clarifying: Heyward could play tomorrow, Maddon still doubtful KB will

Kris Bryant is feeling better, but Cubs manager Joe Maddon sounded more optimistic Monday about Jason Heyward returning to the lineup Tuesday, two days after Bryant and Heyward were shaken up in an outfield collision.https://t.co/5EqNvZmMYz via @MDGonzales pic.twitter.com/AxATxv5ezy

So then, you should probably expect Bryant to be down again tonight, and hopefully able to return tomorrow night against lefty Wade Miley.
