Let’s hope Jon Lester has better luck today than Cole Hamels had yesterday and better luck than he’s had lately.
Indeed, Lester, like Hamels, has had a couple rough starts in a row and hasn’t gone 5.0 full innings since May 12th against the Brewers. In his last two outings combined, he’s given up 17 hits and 9 earned runs over just 8.1 IP. He’s walked only two, but has allowed a TON of fly balls and hard contact. That’s just not going to cut it – not against a team like the Astros (at home) especially. So … good luck, Lester.
Meanwhile, the Cubs are rolling with a similar looking lineup, but Jason Heyward is back in there and Albert Almora Jr. has moved up a spot. Kris Bryant remains out of commission and Javy Baez is clearly being protected at DH after his heel injury.
The Cubs world is a little flimsy right now. Let’s get it back on track. Go Cubs.
