I’ll forgive you if your attention lies elsewhere (after all, the Chicago Cubs did just land dominant closer Craig Kimbrel for pennies on the dollar), but there’s a Cubs game going on right now. And David Bote just hit a three-run homer.
Check it out (even the Cubs can’t help but tease the Kimbrel stuff):

That homer was 110 MPH off the bat, traveled 410 feet, and scored three runs.
That was also Bote’s 7th home run of the season, and he’s really heating up lately. In fact, he’s just been flat-out good: .279/.355/.490 (121 wRC+). His walk-rate is near 10% and his strikeout rate is about to dip under 25%. With that much power and the ability to play multiple infield positions? Bote is looking really legit. I love it.
