The Cubs won the first of three against the Cardinals this weekend, which means a win this afternoon guarantees a series victory. Here’s the lineup for Game 2 at Wrigley Field against Jack Flaherty.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:Â
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jason Heyward, RF
- David Bote, 2B
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- Jon Lester, P
After getting a day off yesterday, Kyle Schwarber returns to the lineup today, back up top in place of Anthony Rizzo. Rizzo may be the greatest leadoff hitter of all-time (hey, he was on base three times yesterday), but when all the regulars are back in there, Schwarber probably makes the most sense up top. I’m sure Rizzo, batting third tonight, will get over it.
Also returning to the lineup is Willson Contreras, who’s been on the receiving end of plenty of rest lately (wisely, I’d add). Contreras is just 2-9 against Flaherty for his career with five strikeouts and a homer. Hopefully he can improve on that today.
Other notable histories against Flaherty:
David Bote is in there at second base again and, as usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:15 CT).
