Luis and I have another episode of Outside the Ivy tonight, but it’s going to be a late one. Not only are the Cubs and Rockies not kicking things off until 7:40, our show doesn’t come on until after the post-game … and Yu Darvish is on the mound tonight.
With all those walks and strikeouts – not to mention his delivery – Darvish starts have tended to become some of the longer Cubs games of the season. I’m gonna need a lot of coffee.
Squaring off against Darvish tonight is German Marquez. Marquez was having a really nice season until he ran into the Cubs in his last start and gave up eight earned runs. If we’re going to be up late tonight, I sure hope it’s in service of a big Cubs win.
Also worth noting: If the Cubs win tonight, they’ll be 11 games over .500 – tying their high-water mark this season.
