The Cubs dropped a pretty frustrating one in Colorado last night, but they’ve got a chance to even up the series tonight. Here’s the Cubs lineup against the righty Peter Lambert.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Addison Russell, 2B
- Jose Quintana, P
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
After tonight, Peter Lambert will have made two big league starts in his career, and both will have been against the Cubs. Unfortunately, he was really good against the Cubs the last time out: 7.0 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 9Ks. Fortunately, he had the element of surprise (or, at least a lack of familiarity) last time that won’t help him this time. AND he’s now pitching at Coors, which is a heckuva lot harder.
Give me the Cubs bats in this one.
Despite all that success his last time out, Lambert wasn’t killing everyone. Javy Baez actually went 2-3 against him, and each of Kris Bryant and Albert Almora Jr. notched a hit, as well. With Willson Contreras back in the lineup tonight, too, I’m feeling good about this lineup.
Lastly: Addison Russell (bruised right hand) is back in the starting lineup for the first time since June 4th, coincidentally against the Rockies (but not Lambert). He’d been out for a while after hurting his thumb on a slide, but was otherwise just starting to heat up.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (7:40 CT).
