Victor Caratini Just Went Full-Extension … On a Play Behind the Plate

Whenever we talk about getting Victor Caratini more starts behind the plate, it’s usually with respect to getting more rest for Willson Contreras or getting his switch-hitting bat in the lineup. Rarely, it’s because of his defense, which is something Contreras is (far) more known for. Not today.

In the bottom of the second inning with a runner on first base, Caratini made an excellent play, going full-extension on a failed bunt popped-up behind the plate for a crucial second out.

That’s just fantastic reflexes, hand-eye coordination, and athleticism right there. Victor Caratini is good.
