Mets Can Their Pitching and Bullpen Coaches Just Ahead of Cubs Series

Chicago Cubs

In a move that will be hailed as genius or as a sign of furthering disaster depending on how that narrative fits whatever the team does over the coming weeks, the New York Mets have dumped their pitching coach Dave Eiland and their bullpen coach Chuck Hernandez. Neither had been with the club more than a year and a half.

It’s a weird storyline for the Cubs to be on the other side entering tonight’s series. It is not likely to have a dramatic on-field impact in this series, but certainly the Mets’ pitching staff will be dealing with – at a minimum – some logistical changes starting tonight. Hey, maybe it helps the Cubs.
