Today, Javy Baez revealed that he’d been invited to return to the Home Run Derby this year, a fun event for guys like Baez. He can put on a show, and that’s very good for the sport (and fans who just like seeing fun stuff!).
But there’s a big however:
Swing or miss? Cubs SS Javy Baez might be forced to back out of HR Derby commitment https://t.co/gDjH8V9W7F via @SunTimes

Obviously Baez has been playing through his sore heel for a long while now, saying that it wasn’t impacting him at the plate. Of course, even if that’s 100% true, you *still* probably wouldn’t want to see him risk any kind of further aggravation by taking the kind of hacks you see in the Derby. Fun as that might be.
We’ll apparently find out within a week or so whether Baez’s heel is going to feel good enough for him to participate. I have to admit, I’m torn on how I want this to go.
