Any loss would have been painful tonight, but to lose a walk-off after coming back to take the lead? And to lose it because Willson Contreras drops one in right field (in the 9th) and Addison Russell inexplicably tries to throw home with the infield back?
If this isn’t rock bottom (and it almost certainly isn’t), we’re in for it in the coming weeks.
It was a night for the catchers, with Victor Caratini slugging two homers at the plate, and Willson Contreras making fine defensive plays in right field (until, you know). And the two combined on a Contreras throw to nail the tying run at the plate in the 8th inning. So that stuff was all good.
Yu Darvish pitched well outside the inning where he got rocked on a trio of meatballs. But he gave up four runs over 6.2 innings, which you can’t really call good.
I’m kinda losing my voice here, because frankly I’m just so pissed off about this one.
