I think the Cubs keep the Crosstown Classic Cup Trophy now! Maybe! Probably. Not really gonna Google it.
The Cubs sent nine guys to the plate in the 5th inning before making an out, scoring five in the process. With a run in the first, that was plenty to win the game, even if there was a little tightness in the chest late.
The Cubs couldn’t tack on after the early fireworks in the 5th, which wound up making things a little too close later on. A couple errors in Jon Lester’s final inning of work led to two White Sox runs, and then Craig Kimbrel put a couple runners on in the 9th (HBP, walk) with some shaky command. But the stuff, good gravy, it’s so freaking nasty. He struck out three anyway to get the Marmol-esque save.
